Vina Luna Monastrell
100% organic
Spanish wine
» Terroir
The vineyards are located in Yecla, at approximately 700 metres above sea level, in the province of Murcia. The climate is continental, with dry, hot summers and dry, cold winters. The average rainfall per year is 250 to 300 litres/m². The grapes grow on over-25-year-old vines that are gobelet- or trellis-trained in sandy limestone soils, poor in organic matter.
» Grape harvest
Grapes were hand-picked between the third week of September and the first week of October 2020, and were brought to our cellar in Yecla.
» Winemaking
Two days of cold maceration, followed by fermentation at a low temperature of about 22°C.
» Tasting Notes
This ruby-red wine with purplish tones exhibits aromas of jammy black fruit, complemented by notes of fig and rosemary. The elegantly structured palate is bursting with fruit through a long, intensely spicy finish.
» Selection
The final selection was made on May 18, 2021, by our tasting committee, whose members have over 40 years of combined experience in wine tasting.
»Bottling
The L220114 batch was bottled in Montreal on January 14, 2022. A total of 30,996 bottles were produced.
»Quality
A tasting was done on January 19, 2022, to ensure the profile and quality conformity of the bottled wine with the initial selection. Quality control, including an organoleptic analysis, was completed on January 20, 2022.
